    ARTILLERY FIRING SALUTE FOR STATEHOOD DAY IN NIS

    In the presence of Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, commander of the Serbian Army, Lieutenant-General Milosav Simovic, representatives of the City and City municipalities, Nisava administrative district and numerous citizens of Nis, artillery firing was carried out in 16 hours with ten volleys of four artillery pieces over the summer stage in the Niš Fortress.

    For the first time in the modern history of Serbia, members of the Serbian Armed Forces (VS) carried out, on the occasion of 15 February, the Statehood Day, a slow artillery fire not only in Belgrade, but also in Novi Sad and Nis, as ordered by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. The honorary fire was also attended by the President of the City Municipality of Palilula Aleksandar Ždrale and his associates. The attendants at this ceremony watched a slow fire from a distance of fifty meters and moved away immediately after the plotings were fired. Despite the expectations of the gathered citizens, there is no greetings of post-war members of the army and police, as well as addressing the audience.

    The central state ceremony of the celebration of the Statehood Day of Serbia this year will be held on February 15 in Orasac, starting at 11 am and as announced, will be attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic. The celebration of the Statehood Day was determined by the decision of the Serbian Parliament in 2001, and from that day on the 15th and 16th of February it will be celebrated.
