The new commander of the Third Land Army Brigade is Colonel Sladjan Stamenkovic. He replaced the former commander Brigadier General Predrag Grbic, who, after a successful two-year command term, retired after succesful cariere. Commander of the Land Army, General Lieutenant Colonel Milosav Simovic, took over the duties between the two commanders, on October 5th at the ceremony marking and celebrating the Day of the Third Brigade of the Land Forces in the `Knjaz` Mihajlo barracks.
In the presence of the Commander of the Land Army, Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, attended also the former commanders of the Third Brigade, General Major General Želimir Glišović and Mile Jelić, presdients and representatives of Nišavski, Toplički and Pirotski administrative districts, Mayor of Niš, Darko Bulatović, presidents and representatives of municipalities Club of Generals and Admiral of Nis, UVP of Serbia, UPP of Serbia, RWS, representatives of SPC, MUP, Red Cross of Nis and educational institutions. On behalf of Palilula Municipality, the President of the Municipality of Palilula, Aleksandar Ždrale, and the Municipal Council member Ivica Stojanović were present at the ceremony.
Former Commander of the Third Brigade, Brigadier General Predrag Grbic, reminded of the famous history of the Second Infantry Regiment “Knjaz Mihailo”, better known as the “Iron Regiment”, followed by members of the Third Brigade. “In the year that was successfully accomplished for us, we carried out numerous tasks such as exercises and shooting. The troops for the protection of the forces were engaged in the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, while the Third Brigade engineer provided assistance to Nis, Prokuplje and Kuršumlija, said General Grbić, stressing that excellent results are the result of stable command, excellent training, high professionalism and maximum engagement each individual brigade.
On the occasion of the Third Brigade Day, prominent members of the military brigade were honored and praised, while the award for the best unit of the brigade was given to the 35th artillery-rocket battery for Starling Missile Division for PVD, commanded by Captain Milan Veljkovic, since this battery was the best in the Army of Serbia on firing artillery-rocket units for air strikes.
Commander of the Land Army, Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, in his speech, commended the former Commander of the Third Brigade Brigadier General Predrag Grbic for successful two-year command of the brigade and emphasized that General Grbic was a truce officer who had passed all duties from the commander of the waters to the commander of the brigade, – quarter duties at the operational level. The new commander, Colonel Sladjan Stamenkovic, wanted to successfully complete all the tasks for the benefit of the Third Brigade, the Army of the Armed Forces, the Serbian Armed Forces and our Serbian nationalities.
On the occasion of marking the Day of the Third Brigade, a tactical and technical assembly was organized, attended by numerous citizens and pupils of elementary and secondary schools, while the Military folk ensemble “Šajkača” performed their program.
